Harvest Team Member Presley Fox shows her appreciation on behalf of the students to the 6 senior staff members at FCHS. Mr. Paul- 29 years! After reaching out to Mr. Paul one of the topics discussed was why he became a teacher he stated, “Science has always been a favorite topic of mine—I’ve always looked at science problems like puzzles that have to be figured out. You can’t just memorize answers to things, you have to take the information that you have and put it all together. As a teacher no two days are going to be the same. I may teach the same topics next year, but I’ll get to work with different personalities that present new challenges and new rewards.” Mr. Paul has been at Farmington for almost 30 years and he believes Farmington school district pushes it’s teachers to work their hardest. He has enjoyed working with his coworkers throughout the years. The most rewarding part for Mr. Paul is when he hears from former students and their successes.
Harvest Team Member Presley Fox shows her appreciation on behalf of the students to the 6 senior staff members at FCHS. Mr. Herink- 16 years! Mr. Herink has enjoyed teaching at Farmington. He think his time has really gone by fast! His favorite thing about Farmington is the band. If all jobs had the same pay and same hours, he would choose the job of a professional fisherman. GO BAND!
Harvest Team Member Presley Fox shows her appreciation on behalf of the students to the 6 senior staff members at FCHS. Mr. Hardesty- 19 years! Mr. Hardesty describes his job at Farmington as “ The job of a lifetime.” He’s always wanted to be a social studies teacher along with a coach. Another question I had asked him was, “If you weren’t a teacher, what job would you want and what is a job you would be horrible at?” And after some discussion he came to the conclusion that he would probably want to be in the military. A job he said he would be bad at is anything involving food!
Harvest Team Member Presley Fox shows her appreciation on behalf of the students to the 6 senior staff members at FCHS. Ms. Rathbun 9 years! One of the most important things to Ms. Rathburn is PE and getting kids active. She enjoys meeting the families of the past and the future generations that come through the doors. She stressed how she likes the kids at Farmington and enjoys teaching them. She would like to implement a bicycle class in PE along with Bicycle trails. She wants to encourage students to ride their bikes to school!
Harvest Team Member Presley Fox shows her appreciation on behalf of the students to the 6 senior staff members at FCHS. Mr. Horn- 27 years! Mr. Horn’s time at Farmington has been enjoyable with its ups and downs over the course of his 27 years. His biggest gratitude is the students in our district. Student Shout-out! Thank you to the community member who sent this in: "We hosted a (larger than we expected) wrestling tournament at the High School on Saturday and 3 of your students came to watch and support their classmates, as soon as they got there they jumped right in and asked if we needed help. We took them up on it as we actually did need extra help. I was very impressed with Dalton Powell, Paige Vallianatos, and Sam Fletcher. Dalton and Paige worked as table help, keeping time and score as we had 8 mats going and each mat needed 2 people at each table and Sam served as a runner for us." Way to go Dalton, Paige and Sam!

Today, Farmington Farmers visited the Monsanto Learning Center in Monmouth as part of our participation in the Fantasy Farming Challenge for local FFA chapters. We learned about some of the corn seed technologies being produced, and saw our plot for which the students made all the agronomic decisions (including seed variety, planting population, row spacing, nitrogen application, and fungicide and insecticide application). The results will be in once harvest is complete, but things look pretty good for our plot. Average yield estimates but sound decisions could have us in the running for most profitable plot!
