FCHS theatre is a place for our students to feel at home. A place where they can be themselves and express themselves in a variety of ways, from stage acting to sound. Our focus must always be, first and foremost, the safety of our students. After much discussion regarding "Big Fish" it is with a heavy heart we must cancel our show for this year for safety concerns and scheduling issues. We applaud the efforts of our students and staff preparing for the past several months to make safe space for our company to work. We have built a world of daffodils, a world we can certainly be proud of--we created art. We thank the parents and adult supporters who were there making arrangements for transportation and meal planning; to the community who has rallied behind our show and theatre company--we wouldn't have a program without all of you. Even though "Big Fish" cannot happen, we look forward to our next two shows that will be announced in the coming weeks.

Farmington Central is excited to get started on the planning for the 20-21 school. The Illinois State Board of Education has released the guidelines that we will be adhering to as we reopen school. https://www.isbe.net/Documents/Part-3-Transition-Planning-Phase-4.pdf Our Transition Committee is going to work quickly to draft a plan to be considered. We are welcoming a parent or two that are able to devote some time during the day over the next few weeks to help with our planning. If you work in the medical field or a background that would be beneficial to the committee we would welcome that additional insight. If you are able to participate please email 2020restart@dist265.com prior to Monday, July 6th. The committee would like to have something prepared for the July 13th board meeting. Thank you.

Farmington District 265 will be running morning bus routes on Friday, May 8 to deliver student belongings and recover any school property needing returned to FCES and FCJH. This does not apply to Farmington Central High School, which has already communicated procedure for exchange of items. Buses will run their regular routes, with the addition of students who do not typically ride the bus, so times will be approximate and run between 6:45am-8:45am. When the bus arrives, items will be exchanged with students/parents or will be left if there is a visual contact made. If no person is present, items will not be left and may then be picked up from the schools on Monday, May 11 from 9am-3pm. Details for the Monday pickup will follow after Friday's deliveries. Items needing to be returned to schools will also be picked up at this stop. If possible, place the returned items in a zip seal bag, labeled with the student's first and last name. FCCUSD 265 staff looks forward to serving our students through this delivery!

March 15, 2020 4:15 pm Farmington Community: Students will not be in session on Monday, March 16th. Staff are welcome to report but are urged to engage in social distancing while on premises. The alternative learning plans that were approved by our Regional Office of Education this past Friday will be enacted starting tomorrow and CONTINUE THROUGH Monday, March 30th. There will be no on campus activities allowed prior to the start of school on Tuesday, March 31st. The parent teacher conferences scheduled for this week are suspended at this time and certified staff will NOT be available on Friday, March 20th as that was previously scheduled as a nonattendance day. There will be Grab and Go drive thru meal options (see attachment). If you participate in this option, we ask that you stay in your car. The bags will be handed to you through your car window. We cannot emphasize enough how imperative it is that we all take this seriously and parents have their children at home, avoid having them out in public groups, and practice good personal hygiene. There will be an additional email sent to staff via district email. This is a very fluid situation as we all know and Farmington Central CUSD#265 would like to thank everyone for their patience, understanding, and attention to this public health concern. We will continue to share information as we receive it and we appreciate all the efforts the State of Illinois, ISBE, ROE, IDPH, and community leaders are putting into place. As a district, the health, safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities.  Based on recent outbreaks of coronavirus (COVID-19), concerns continue to grow. We would like to take a moment to reinforce preventive safety and up-to-date information.  Attached is a letter pertaining to the Alternative Learning Plan that we plan to enact in the event of school not being in session for a period of time. As for now, we are closely monitoring the situation and following guidelines and recommendations placed forth by the IDPH and the CDC.  We all play a role in reducing the likelihood of a coronavirus outbreak in our school district and community.  We encourage everyone to practice good habits: Clean your hands often Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Avoid close contact Avoid close contact with people who are sick Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.   Stay home if you’re sick Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care. The schools are very understanding and encourage you to stay home if you are sick.   Cover coughs and sneezes Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow. Throw used tissues in the trash. Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Clean and disinfect Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces on a daily basis. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks. If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection. We will continue to share information as it becomes available.  Mr. Flater is meeting with coaches and sponsors tomorrow and those activities are ever changing.   Please see the attached letter in regards to e-Learning. Farmer Nominations Are Now Open Nominate your school district by April 1, 2020! Jobs in STEM are only becoming more valued, and that gives educators a clear game plan: Get kids excited about science, technology, engineering and math. These skills can lead to a successful career in agriculture and other industries. The Grow Rural Education program allows eligible farmers to nominate their local public school district for grants to help enhance STEM education. Once nominated, school districts submit applications to compete for $15,000 grant to help fund projects that enhance their STEM curriculum. While these grants are helping to improve test scores today, better yet, they are getting kids to think bigger about their tomorrows. Calling all farmers. The chance to leave your mark on a school district in your community is at your fingertips. Simply go to this site, https://www.americasfarmers.com/grow-rural-education/ to nominate the school you support. Then, we will contact the school district and provide them with instructions on how to access and fill out an application.

What an amazing day!!!! Mikayla Powell and Ashley Sievers spent the day at Illinois Cancer Care. They were able to spend time with patients undergoing treatment and bring some smiles to faces by delivering Blessing Bags and homemade blankets and hats. The bags contained a puzzle book, bottle of water, writing pen, hard candies, hand sanitizer, chapstick and ear buds. The girls worked hard for the last three months and thanks to an amazing community of generous people wanting to help they were able to deliver 100 Blessing Bags and 42 blankets to the patients at the facility. The 2019-2020 Harvest Team is sponsored by: Lozier Oil Company, Bank of Farmington, Bank of Yates City, Snips Hair Studio, Farmington Community Bank, Archdale Construction, and Tom Conklin-State Farm.

As many of you are aware, vehicles are becoming less and less aware of the expectations while driving in the presence of a school bus, which has led to several accidents across the nation. With Illinois Central’s assistance, the district has added stop arm cameras and updated some of the fleet with dual stop arm features. Beginning this year, students who are being dropped and picked up on Route 116 will only be allowed to enter and exit the bus on the side of the road the door is facing. This means that students will no longer be crossing Route 116 in order to enter or exit the bus. While this may cause some minor adjustments and possibly some inconveniences it will improve the safety for everyone. As has been previously communicated, bus routes with drop off and pick up will be available Monday August 12th at the Back to School Open House and on skyward. Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping students safe on their route to and from school.

Harvest Team Member Sydney Ossman: "I chose to make made a Memory/ Sensory box, for people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, to be donated to the “Forget Me Not” collection in the Farmington Area Public Library. This collection was started in memory of Harry Richard Vawter, who recently passed. Richard was the grandfather of my brother and sisters and ultimately was like a grandfather to me. He cared for his wife Patricia Vawter, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2008. The family has welcomed me, and three other care givers, into their home to take over the responsibility of caring for their loved one. This particular box is inspired by sewing with the hopes that for someone like Patricia, who was a seamstress, will stimulate memories by touching an item like a thimble or a spool thread." 2018-19 Harvest Team is sponsored by: Lozier Oil, Bank of Farmington, Joe and Emily Webel, Chad Johnson-Jim Maloof Realtor, Farmington Community Bank and Marilyn & Larry Gibbs.
