Good luck to our cross country team as they host a meet today beginning at 4:00 PM.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. This week the Student Support Team will be providing hopeful messages about what students can do for themselves and their classmates to prevent suicide. While suicide is a complex public health issue, it is preventable. One of the best ways to prevent suicide is to maintain meaningful social connections. Many believe that our happiness depends on the number of friends or connections we have, but research shows that it is actually the quality of those connections that increases our happiness the most.

Not sure how to develop a meaningful friendship? Face-to-face socialization helps deepen our connections and friendships far more than socialization via text and social media, so making time to see friends in person is one of the best things you can do for not only yourself, but your friends as well.

There was an old Chinese proverb that says “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”  The meaning of this proverb is that it can be more beneficial in the long run to teach a person how to do something than to do that something for them.

At this time, will you please rise for the pledge:

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Today is Talk Like a Pirate Day!  A pirate goes to the doctor and says “Aaarrhhh doc, I have some moles on me back.”  The doctor says “It’s ok, they’re benign.”   The pirate says “Count again, I think there be ten!”

Have a great day Farmers!!!
