Dual Credit Parent/Student Meeting

Parents of Incoming Juniors & Seniors:

You are invited to a Dual Credit meeting for students and parents on Wednesday, March 11th at 6 PM in the HS Auditorium. While not mandatory, attendance is VERY STRONGLY encouraged for any student who plans to take a Dual Credit course next year at FCHS. This meeting is especially important for next year's seniors who are hoping to take College English online through Carl Sandburg College. A representative from the school will be present to talk about their policies and procedures (Please be aware that students/parents who do not attend this meeting will be required to do an orientation at the college prior to the start of the class next year.)

At the meeting we will cover the process for choosing, registering, paying for, and completing dual credit courses in high school. This is an excellent opportunity to get your questions regarding dual credit classes answered and to be informed about the process of beginning college courses.  Reminder that FCHS offers dual credit classes through BOTH Illinois Central College and Carl Sandburg College - each school has different requirements and processes. This meeting is a great chance to learn about the entire dual credit process for both schools!

Additional Information:
At the High School, we have already started the dual credit process for next year! In the coming weeks, students who indicated they have an interest in taking dual credit classes during course registration will be taking a placement test here at the HS for admittance to the course(s) they have an interest in. This test serves to prove to the college that students are academically ready for college-level work.

Students will be receiving this information on Friday 2/25 during a brief meeting and additional information should be coming home with them.  If you feel your student should take a dual credit course, we encourage you to have a conversation about this with them!

As always, questions are welcome! Please don't hesitate to reach out to me via email at kneave@dist265.com or via phone at (309) 245-1000 ext. 6072.  Thanks!
